Sarah Noffke Interview

sarah-noffke-blog

A nice interview at fellow author Sarah Noffke’s blog. I mostly talk about the writing side of my job, rather than the stories. As a new author it is difficult for me to speak with any authority, but I have spent nearly 8 months deep in the belly of the writing beast, so I do have some takeaways I share with other authors and aspiring writers.

It’s called “Play for the Win.”

She is also giving away a signed copy of my book. If you are on Facebook, you’ll find it on Sarah Noffke’s Author Page.

Stop the Sirens Pre-Orders

stop-the-sirens-cover-800I’m pleased to announce the final numbers for the pre-order of my 3rd book was 250! That means 250 people made it through the other two books and thought enough of them to pre-order the last chapter in the trilogy. Such an honor!

I worked almost around the clock for weeks to get Stop the Sirens done, and I didn’t have a minute to spare. It’s amazing how much time it takes to edit and do all the little things of book production. Since I’m a one-man shop, I have to do it all. However, after completing the other two books, I’ve gotten a lot more adept at everything. A good thing too, as this volume is about 10k words longer than the previous two. I also spent a little time and included a sample of the continuation of the story in the next trilogy. That book will be titled Last Fight of the Valkyries. More on that soon!

As with with the first book, the reviews for this volume have been beyond my wildest hopes. As a new author cutting his teeth on formal storytelling, there is nothing better than learning there are actual, real, people out there enjoying these books. I wish I could thank them individually.

So far I have 8 reviews with a combined rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. I’m humbled at this. Truly.

This was truly an non stop, exciting, action packed, and tense adventure. It was even more tense as the first read. I cannot wait for Grandmas rescue. Two most important books in my life was mentioned, Earth Abides & Alas Babylon which got me hooked on survival books. Of course survival has come a long ways since those came out, well over 30 years ago but it’s kept me interested in survival and especially with a few zombies in the mix. I’m also not a very religious person but hints at religion throughout this read was just enough not so be so intense. Keepum coming and great job with this great read!!!!

wonderful story!

Another great read. Really enjoying the story, especially the supernatural aspect with grandma’s dreams. Love the faith in the story, love the lack of profanity, & love the sweet storyline of 2 teenagers. Already preordered the next installment!

The highest praise I have ever given an author
By Paula Jane on February 12, 2016
Format: Paperback

I go through one or two books a day so when I tell you this gentleman is one of my new favorite authors that means something. I love the different slant on the zombie concept and he managed to make the teenage characters interesting to a woman who has children a decade older than them. Excellent crossover writing ability as many of the young people in my neighborhood suggested his books to me. As the widow of a sniper and the mother of three veterans I was especially pleased with the way he handled the military and LEO involvement. So many authors make the mistake of making their personalities either flat and cartoonlike or so incredibly flawed they are more likely to belong in a mental ward than in public service. Not here, realistic people with believable reactions. I suspect even our resident bad guy is just caught in the flow of events and doing his best to do what he thinks he has to do. Best of all the hero and his friends showed how commonsense, basic skills and using one’s own specific talents are the ultimate secret weapon.

Best New voice in the zombie genre

One of the most original takes on the zombie apocalypse I have read yet. I love zombie fiction, but I get tired of the Army Ranger prepped scenario or the drunken young adults caught up in surviving at all costs. I am tired of the assumption that everyone would descend into murdering, raping monsters within a short amount of time. I am also tired of gratuitous gore that lends nothing to the storyline. Since the Sirens is a breath of fresh air. The writing is good, the characters are developed and the pacing is good. Best of all, this book could be read by zombie-loving youngsters. I am a fan, and I am looking forward to book 2.

I loved this story! Exciting action with unpredictable outcomes, well developed characters and a charming plot. So refreshing to share moments with these characters without foul language and endless discussion of firearms.
